Welcome to our first Flower-Blogger composition. I've always enjoyed talking about flowers, people, relationships, love, loss and all those special moments in our lives that don't necessarily define us, but most certainly influence us, on who we are, who we want to be and who we will become. Flowers play a large role in those special life moments; from the birth of a child to the death of a parent, from helping celebrate a birthday or anniversary or just to cheer someone up who is sick or feeling down. And the biggest reason people send flowers "LOVE"! Whether you're giving someone special that 1st Rose, or on your knees with a dozen of them asking your true love to marry you, or perhaps it's the big day! Weddings are without a doubt one of the biggest flower days of a person's life and we love doing weddings. Big or small, we can help make that special day one you will never forget!
Flowers can also help you say things you sometimes are unable to put into words and that is the main reason we find ourselves in this business! From what I can tell people waste to much time on their so-called "smart phones" and miss what's really happening around them! In my humble opinion they need to take a few moments each and everyday and STOP & SMELL THE ROSES! Flowers have that great ability to help you slow down just a little and appreciate life through their natural beauty.
My family owns three small flower shops in the Columbus, Ohio metro area. Two that go by the name, Christine's Garden (named after my wife and our founder) and one called the University Flower Shop. We have been in what I like to call the "Emotional Support Business" since 1997. You can find us online anytime at OSUFLOWERS.COM
Our family really enjoy the holidays and our favorites are: Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Grandparents Day, Father's Day, New Years, Easter, Hanukkah, Passover and of course Homecoming & Prom (we're still trying to get those last two officially recognized by the government). We also like Secretaries Day, Bosses Day, Teacher's Day, Nurses Day and any other type of job recognition day you can imagine. We all know that Sweetest Day was a holiday created in Cleveland of all places by the greeting card consortium, but any day we put more flowers in front of people is a good day in our book! There are many other holidays I know I'm missing, so let me finish by saying we like all religious holidays that celebrate with or without flowers! We also love Memorial Day, Labor Day and the 4th of July not just because of their significance, but those are the holidays that we actually get to practice what we preach and take time out to stop & smell the roses with our own families.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog.
Hope to see you soon,
Rick at The Flower-Blogger
